1998
The Beginning
In 1998, the second generation of the BMW M3 was nearing the end of its production run, about to make way for the E46 successor. The E36 in SMG specification represented the most technologically advanced pinnacle of the M programme: the only automated sequential gearbox on the market, the first ever fitted to a production vehicle.
This car was purchased new in 1998 by the owner who retains it to this day — an increasingly rare circumstance on the European collector market.

The Care
Over almost three decades, the car has covered approximately 92,000 kilometres: a modest and careful usage evidenced by the low mileage figure. Every service operation was carried out exclusively by the official BMW network, with complete supporting documentation.
The original service book, complete with stamps from every BMW workshop visited over the years, forms an integral part of the vehicle.
- 92,000 km in 27 years — averaging 3,400 km per year
- Serviced exclusively at official BMW dealerships
- Every operation documented with original invoices
- Original service book with all BMW stamps
- Engine never dismantled or modified
"An example that has remained in the hands of its first owner, maintained exclusively by the official BMW network, is today an absolute rarity on the European market."BMW M3 E36 · 3.2 SMG · 1998

The Restoration

The engine, never dismantled, is today in perfect condition — a testament to the quality of the preventive maintenance received over the years.
